Inheriting Unknown Issues

Steven’s house had been in his family for generations, and they’d had a lot of work done on the roof over the years. And his parents had the same company come back over and over again.

Steven knew the work had been poor, and he also knew that they’d just been installing new layers of shingles on top of the older ones.

Not good.

Thorough Inspections

Our roof inspection confirmed his suspicions that his roof needed help. Steven’s roof was in poor shape and would need to be replaced sooner rather than later.

During our consultation, we discussed the details of his roof replacement, including scheduling, products, and anything else Steven would need to know.

Along with a roof replacement, Steven wanted to replace his home’s siding and have a new gutter system installed. A total exterior home makeover was in the works, and we were ready to rock and roll.

Precision Workmanship

During our consultation, Steven told us that he thought his roof might have up to five layers of shingles on it. That’s already a safety concern, but it was worse than expected when installation day came, and we opened it up.

We pulled off two layers, then another two. And after that, another two. Finally, we pulled off the last layer – a total of seven.

This was dangerous.

Those shingles were only nailed into other shingles. The right storm could have come along on the wrong day, and Steven’s roof would have flown right off. Worse, the weight of all those shingles was putting an increasing amount of pressure on the rafters, and if left in that state, it could have caused his roof to collapse.

Fortunately, it didn’t come to that. We showed Steven and explained to him what was happening to his roof. Then, of course, we fixed all of it.

And to keep those warranties valid, we MUST do our work to exacting standards.

We install shingles only on fresh or solid wood decking — and REFUSE to install shingles over another layer of shingles. Flashing is also freshly installed under almost all circumstances. These are just some examples of ensuring your roof installation is done correctly.
